New Dining and Community Outreach Center Opens at The Ranch Recovery Centers

The Ranch Recovery Centers, Inc. opened its new Dining and Community Outreach Center today. The 4,000 square-foot building includes a kitchen and dining facility and will also be used for lectures and life skills training for clients of the drug and alcohol recovery center. Classes and support groups offered at The Ranch, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Relapse Awareness, Planned Parenthood, STD Awareness, Smoking Cessation and others, are expected to grow with the larger building.

The Ranch broke ground on the Community Outreach Center last fall after a multi-year fundraising campaign that included generous donations from the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, the City of Palm Desert, Desert Healthcare District, Ernie Rubin, the Beneto Foundation, and Leona Aronoff-Sadacca in honor of Mitch Epstein. Other major donors include Michael and Diane Beemer, Ira and Martha Marshall, and the James A. and Mary H. Bell Charitable Foundation.

“Fundraising for this project took a lot of people believing in our mission,” said Rick Mesa, President and CEO of The Ranch Recovery Centers, Inc. “This project is a true collaboration, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed.”

The Ranch welcomed about 85 invited guests to the dedication event, including Supervisor John Benoit, County Legislative Assistant Mike Gialdini, City of Desert Hot Springs Mayor Adam Sanchez, and City of Palm Desert Mayor Van Tanner. From the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, Ronald and Sherrie Auen, Christopher McGuire, Douglass and Gwen Vance, Darrell Burrage, and Catharine Reed attended. Kathy Greco, Steve Brown, and Donna Craig represented Desert Healthcare District. Among other distinguished donors and supporters were Leona Arnoff-Sadacca, Steve and Darlene Beneto, and Ernie Rubin.

“As Rick Mesa and The Ranch are provided more resources, they make an even greater impact,” said Christopher McGuire, Vice President of Programs for the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation. “We are confident this new facility will help The Ranch change even more lives in our communities.”

The Ranch Recovery Centers, Inc. is dedicated to helping people and their families begin their recovery from the devastating and far-reaching effects of alcoholism and drug dependency. The Ranch typically treats about 450-500 men and women each year in three locations in Desert Hot Springs and provides family services programs to 90-100 significant others. The new Community Outreach Center is located at the original men’s residential treatment facility, on Annandale Avenue in Desert Hot Springs, which opened in 1972.
